Properties
Zeus® PTFE tubing is a fluoropolymer component supplied in either 50-foot coils or 100-foot spools depending on the gauge size and wall thickness. Its specifications are based on its inside diameter dimensions. This strong, translucent, lightweight, and flexible tubing maintains a high dielectric strength over a wide range of frequencies. PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene), also known as Teflon®, is chemically inert, has low extractables, and is chemically resistant to acids, bases, and all common solvents. It also has the lowest coefficient of friction of all flouropolymers making it ideal for applications needing lubricious material. In addition to its lubricity, PTFE’s biocompatibility, tight tolerances, and resistance to a wide range of temperatures and chemicals allow for applications in a variety of industries. This tubing can be EtO sterilized and autoclaved. PTFE is resistant in the temperature range of 500°F (260°C) to -454°F (-270°C).
  • Melting point: 635°F to 650°F (335°;C to 343°;C)
  • Tensile strength: 2,500-4,000 psi
  • Specific gravity: 2.13-2.24
This tubing can be EtO sterilized and autoclaved. Please refer to the chart below for other size specifications for this PTFE extruded tubing.

Markets and Applications ▼
Zeus PTFE tubing serves research and development applications in variety of markets including fluid management, automotive, aerospace, electrical, pharmaceuticals, fiber optics, and medical. Its ability to minimize friction is key in medical markets.

Vascular applications include:
  • Structural heart repair
  • Cardiac rythm management
  • Renal denervation
Non-vascular applications include:
  • Endoscopy
  • Oncology
  • Urology
  • Cosmetic Surgery
PTFE can be inserted into the body without concern for abrasion, and because it is chemically inert, the possibility of a reaction is limited. Therefore, it is a preferred choice for specific applications such as lining catheter IDs, guide wires, introducers and guiding catheters.
