PTFE Teflon Thin Wall Tubing

PTFE Thin Wall Tubing

Description

Zeus PTFE thin wall tubing, a fluoropolymer component, has applications in a variety of demanding environments due to its strength, insulation qualities and flexibility. PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene), also known as Teflon®, has the lowest coefficient of friction of all polymers, and this lubricity combined with its biocompatibility, precision tolerances and resistance to a wide range of temperatures and chemicals make PTFE a sensible choice for a variety of laboratory applications. PTFE is chemically inert, has low extractables and is chemically resistant to acids, bases and all common solvents. This tubing withstands temperatures ranging from 500°F (260°C) to -454°F (-270°C). The melting point is between 635-650°F, the tensile strength is between 2,500-4,000 psi and the specific gravity is between 2.13-2.24. Please refer to the chart below for other size specifications for this PTFE extruded tubing. This tubing can be EtO sterilized and autoclaved.
Application Examples (Click to Read)
Relevant applications for Zeus PTFE tubing occur in the following industries: aerospace, automotive, electrical, fiber optics, liquid handling, pharmaceutical and medical. PTFE tubing's light weight, high dielectric and tensile strengths, lubricity and resistance to extreme temperatures, make it a preferred material in electrical applications where other plastics are less effective. The qualities of PTFE enhance performance in applications such as microwave cable insulation, connector and terminal sleeves and battery pack and capacitor encapsulation. PTFE also provides solutions in the field of fiber optics, where performance is enhanced when optical fibers are coated with PTFE. The lubricity of PTFE provides a perfect material for easily sliding over delicate fibers without causing damage. The material is UV resistant and can operate in a variety of extremes from cryogenic low temperatures to up to 500°F (260°C) without significant linear expansion. Component Supply seeks to assist researchers and product designers in determining the best products for their specific applications. While we do provide some information regarding the potential applications of our products, the numerous options make it impossible to create a comprehensive list of applications. Stock and Customization (Click to Read)
Component Supply stocks PTFE tubing in the AWG sizes indicated on the chart below in 50-foot or 100-foot spools or coils depending on gauge size and wall. We maintain production run quantities of this product for manufacturers, but consistent with our support of research and development, we offer small coils as well. Researchers and product designers must be given the opportunity to test these products in their specific applications without the commitment to purchase large amounts of tubing. We value the innovative work occurring in demanding laboratory environments and use our proprietary processes and specialized equipment to offer custom fabrication that maintains the integrity of the tubing dimensions, holds tight tolerances and keeps cuts straight.
