Component Supply's stock of 304V stainless steel mandrel wire is spring tempered, drawn and straightened with a bright finish. It is an ideal material for non-implantable medical devices. 304 is strong and flexible and can be easily welded or soldered. This wire is available in 0.001-inch increments for diameters ranging from 0.003-inch to 0.150-inch. Please note: 304 is always designated with a V (Vacuum Arc Remelted) for diameter sizes of 0.040-inch and down, but sizes larger than that may not be designated with a V.
This stainless steel wire is used widely in a variety of industries including medical and aerospace. Common applications include use in catheter mandrels, stylets, introducers, push pull rods and guide wire assemblies. For example, Component Supply offers guide wire assemblies of this product in which a 36-inch piece of stainless steel wire fits into a 30-inch hypodermic tube. While Component Supply provides some information for possible applications for stainless steel wire, generally there are too many possibilities for a comprehensive description. Therefore, as you consider prospective applications in your industry, please contact one of our representatives who all are eager to assist researchers and product designers in choosing the best products for their specific projects.
Component Supply stocks production quantities of 304V stainless steel wire in standard lengths of 36 inches and 72 inches in the diameter sizes indicated on the chart below. However, we prove our commitment to the work of our researchers and product designers by offering this wire in small quantities for testing purposes as well as providing custom fabrication services. With specifications and/or a drawing, we can provide a timely estimate for our custom fabrication services. This material can be bull nosed, rounded and chamfered. In addition, we possess the capabilities to bend this wire based on customers' angle and radius requirements as well as make multiple and compound bends. Round plastic storage tubes
are available for organizing and safely storing straightened wire after it is cut.
Material certifications are available for all our stainless steel wire products. Some of the larger sizes of wire, usually starting at 0.040" and up, may not carry the "V" designation. Please request certification at the time you place your order.
