304 Thin Wall Stainless Steel Hypotubes for Medical Device Development

Thin wall 304 SS hypodermic tubing is made from stainless steel welded and drawn to tight tolerances. Component Supply stocks miniature hypotubes in standard 30″ and 60″ without a minimum order requirement. Discounts are available for the 60″ lengths in quantities of 10, 25, 50, and 100. The 304 is a high-performance alloy and the most popular alloy for use in non-implantable medical devices. It possesses a minimum of 18% chromium and 8% nickel with a maximum of 0.08% carbon. It is in the chromium-nickel austenitic alloy family, and because of its low carbon, it is preferable over 302 for applications requiring welding. Hypodermic tubing gauge sizes are based on the Birmingham Gauge, also known as Stubs Iron Wire Gauge, which references the outside diameter.
