PTFE offers high dielectric strength, a very low coefficient of friction, and chemical resistance to many acids, bases, and common solvents. It is also chemically inert.
It has a rated service temperature range of -454°F to 500°F (-270°C to 260°C) and retains its flexibility across that range. PTFE is compatible with common sterilization methods such as EtO and autoclaving.

There are numerous industries with applications for Zeus PTFE tubing including the aerospace, automotive, chemical, electrical, fiber optics, pharmaceutical and medical industries. Concerning chemical applications, this tubing withstands corrosive fluids, such as sulfuric acid, hydrocarbon fuels and strong mineral acids. Additionally, PTFE’s inherently pure nature (fluorine and carbon), makes it an excellent material selection for pharmaceutical applications requiring a high degree of purity. PTFE also is an appropriate option for high pressure applications.
However, there are many factors contributing to the actual pressures specific to each application, so Component Supply does not list a burst pressure rating for fluoropolymer products. Instead, this theoretical formula may be used as a reference for engineers and researchers to yield the maximum burst pressure. While Component Supply provides some information for potential PTFE applications, such as the chemical and pharmaceutical examples described above, generally there are too many possibilities for a comprehensive description.
