Component Supply’s stock of 316 stainless steel mandrel wire is spring tempered, drawn and straightened with a bright finish. 316 is strong and can be welded or soldered easily. 316 stainless steel contains 16% chromium, 10% nickel and 2% molybdenum. The molybdenum distinguishes 316 from 304 and is added to aid in corrosion resistance to chlorides. This wire is available in 0.001″ increments for diameters ranging from 0.005″ to 0.040″ and is preferred over 304 SS for implantable devices.
