Zeus PTFE thin wall tubing, a fluoropolymer component, has applications in a variety of demanding environments due to its strength, insulation qualities, and flexibility. PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene), also known as Teflon®, has the lowest coefficient of friction of all polymers, and this lubricity combined with its biocompatibility, precision tolerances, and resistance to a wide range of temperatures and chemicals make PTFE a sensible choice for a variety of laboratory applications. PTFE is chemically inert, has low extractables and is chemically resistant to acids, bases and all common solvents. This tubing withstands temperatures ranging from 500°F (260°C) to -454°F (-270°C). The melting point is between 635-650°F, the tensile strength is between 2,500-4,000 psi and the specific gravity is between 2.13-2.24. The lubricity of PTFE provides a perfect material for easily sliding over delicate fibers without causing damage.
