What is RDT?

RDT – Is the Component Supply Rapid Development Team – a specialized group dedicated to 24-hour turnaround of custom prototyping for mandrels, fabricated hypotubes, needles, and more.

You already know we ship our standard items the same day and that most custom orders ship in 5 days or less. But, the Rapid Development Team takes it to the next level by producing custom prototypes and having them on your desk in 24 hours.

FAQs:

When do I call RDT? When you have a concept that requires a custom part and need to test it almost immediately.

How do I get started? It’s easy! 1) Email your idea (RDT in the subject) to parts@componentsupplycompany.com or call to discuss before 12 noon central. 2) Our team will get your details, and production will commence immediately. 3) Your prototype will be packaged and shipped overnight. 4) Your prototype will be delivered, and it’s time for you to Change The World.

How much does it cost? Depending on the capabilities and complexities of the part, a protoype quantity (usually of 5 or less) starts at $150 before shipping.

If it works, how do I get more? Once your RDT prototype works, contact your rep, and they will work with you through usage and releases and get a quote back to you the same day. We strive to keep lead times for the first shipment at 5 days or less.

Can I use RDT to customize material for parts that Component Supply doesn’t stock? Yes! While 24-hour turnaround is not possible for material we don’t stock, if we can source the material, you will still receive a prototype within 24-48 hours of Component Supply receiving the material.

Can I get a quick overview of the types of capabilities you offer? Sure thing!
