Component Supply offers high-performance Type 1 Nitinol catheter mandrels designed for catheter development, guidewire applications, and minimally invasive medical devices. Available in light or amber oxide finishes, these mandrels provide exceptional flexibility, kink resistance, deformation resistance, and dimensional stability for demanding medical device R&D and production environments.
Nitinol is a nickel-titanium paramagnetic alloy named for its composition and discovery at the Naval Ordnance Laboratory. Superelastic Nitinol exhibits exceptional elasticity at room and body temperature, allowing it to be strained up to eight times more than ordinary spring steel without permanent deformation. This makes it ideal for shape-setting, intricate bends, and precision forming in medical devices.
Superelastic grades have transformation temperatures between 10°C and 18°C (50°F–64.4°F).

Superelastic nitinol wire and mandrels are commonly used in:
Every medical device presents unique design challenges, and selecting the right nitinol wire or mandrel is critical to achieving the desired performance. Component Supply works closely with product designers, R&D teams, and manufacturers to help identify the appropriate material, diameter, temper, and fabrication options for each application.
If your application is not listed, our team can help you evaluate available products and recommend solutions that best fit your design and manufacturing requirements.
CS Custom Fab, the fabrication division of Component Supply, provides precision fabrication services for superelastic nitinol wire and medical mandrels. Whether you’re developing a prototype or preparing for production, our team can manufacture custom components to your specifications using advanced fabrication processes and specialized equipment.
Our nitinol fabrication services include:
Component Supply stocks superelastic nitinol wire in straight, annealed lengths with a light oxide finish. Standard lengths include 36-inch and 72-inch options, with production quantities available for OEM manufacturing as well as small quantities for research, prototyping, and design validation.
We understand that early-stage development often requires flexibility. That’s why we support engineers, researchers, and medical device designers with low-volume orders and custom fabrication services that help accelerate product development without requiring large production commitments.
Upload your drawing through our Request a Quote form, and our team will work with you to determine the best fabrication approach for your custom nitinol wire or mandrel application.
